Press Conference with Mayor Villaraigosa, Janice Hahn, and George Adams at SA Recycling

Wednesday December 22, 2010 SA Recycling Terminal Island hosted a press conference with the Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonia Villaraigosa and City Councilwoman Janice Hahn. The press conference announced the State of California’s Enterprise Zone (EZ) award to the Harbor Gateway, San Pedro, and Wilmington areas. The EZ will allow for tax credits and reduction of DWP rates with the purchase of new equipment and the hiring of qualified individuals from the Workforce Investment Board.

The conference was well attended with approximately 50 elected representatives, chamber of commerce staff, community leaders, and SA TI employees.  George Adams delivered a, from the heart, speech about how the EZ will assist the company in making positive decisions on equipment and personnel.  He also thanked the Mayor for pushing the for the EZ award through from the State of California.  The Mayor personally thanked George for hosting the conference and was able to give five minutes of personal time meeting privately with George and Terry Adams to discuss port issues.  Janice Hahn thanked SA Recycling for being such an advocate for community and commented on our November 15th Peace Angel press conference where we shredded over 1,000 seized weapons to build the Peace Angel sculpture.
